My Cloud Security advice on LinkedIn got over 31K impressions. Here is what I learnt
Follow these steps to give actionable advice and grow your own following

Let me start by saying .. I hate the whole “going viral” craze .. You know where people jump over each other trying to add as much emojis as stuff in their posts as possible
It comes across as very forced especially on a professional network like LinkedIn
At the same time I cannot deny that LinkedIn is a massive ocean of professionals and businesses and it is wonderful if you are able to resonate with them
If you are interested in creating a network around your own cybersecurity brand then you really cannot go wrong with LinkedIn
I have done a lot of work on Medium, YouTube and Udemy and thought about testing LinkedIn also as a way of getting traffic to my content
The results were pretty amazing
One of my posts about how you do not need a job to get Cloud Security experience resonated quite a bit with my network and has gotten over 31K impressions so far
My network has also increased quite a bit with my followers increasing on a daily basis

My LinkedIn Post
Here a few key things I learnt which this post get a lot of traction:
The cliche of “adding value” is not a cliche at all and my post just focuses on giving good , clean advice about how to get cloud security experience. No trying to sell any course or direct them to my YouTube channel !
No links ! LinkedIn usually does not want people going off the platform so put any links in the comments section only
Engage as much as possible with people who respond and try to get a conversation going
Enhance your LinkedIn profile and mention what you do so people actually take the time to follow you and it is not a one-time “like the post and forget”. It also establishes if you are a person worth following for future posts or not
Try to make the first line as catchy as possible as that is the make or break for a person who sees it. In an ocean of content, it is the first line that will decide if a person will click the “see more” or not
Try and add a picture if you can .. I really thought this Jackie Chan pic was funny so used it
Repurpose your popular content ! I took the key points from a Medium article I had written a while back and just repurposed it for LinkedIn where it also resonated.
Thats it honestly ! I hope this gave you some advice and insights.
Next time instead of sharing job updates or clicking like on some random post, take the time and share a good value-added post on LinkedIn
Good luck .. BTW can I trouble you to visit my post and like it also :)
